Police doctor Simon Lark (original title: Dr. Simon Locke , from the second season Police Surgeon ) is a Canadian television series that was produced between 1971 and 1974 and also broadcast in the USA via content syndication .

The young doctor Dr. Toronto-based Simon Lark takes a job in the fictional town of Dixon Mills, where he talks to veteran doctor Dr. Andrew Sellers assists. There he works with Sheriff Dan Palmer and Nurse Louise Wynn and has to deal with all kinds of medical emergencies.
After the end of the first season, Lark returns to the big city , where he works as a police doctor first under Lieutenant Dan Palmer and later under Lieutenant Jack Gordon. Lark's field of activity changes significantly as a result, as he is now involved in the investigation of criminal cases.

The series was supported, among other things, with funds from the Colgate-Palmolive group, but suffered from severe cost pressure. The Hollywood veteran and Oscar winner Jack Albertson , who had been hired as a driving force in the series, announced due to the miserable conditions of production and in his opinion, inferior quality of the series. This was also the reason for the complete reorientation of the series from the second season. Canadian actors such as William Shatner , Leslie Nielsen and John Candy appeared as guest stars, while Donald Pleasence and Keenan Wynn were among the other guest stars .
Of the total of 86 episodes produced in four seasons, ZDF broadcasted only 25 episodes on Mondays in the evening program from November 19, 1979, all of which came from the third season. It was repeated in 1981 and 1984. In the German version, the name of the main character was changed from Locke to Lark .
