Bryan Fuller (born July 27, 1969 in Lewiston , Idaho ) is an American screenwriter and television producer .

Life

Fuller graduated from Clarkston High School in Clarkston , Washington in 1987 . He attended Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston , Idaho before moving to USC Film School. He broke off his studies there without a degree.

Fuller describes himself as a big sci-fi fan and has also written on the two Star Trek series Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . In 2003 and 2004, respectively, the two series Dead Like Me developed by Fuller - As good as dead and Wonderfalls ran on US television. While Wonderfalls was discontinued early by the broadcaster FOX , Dead Like Me lasted two seasons.

On the series Heroes, which started in 2006, he worked as a screenwriter during the first season.

Fuller also wrote a television adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie and developed the pilot episode for the animated series The Amazing Screw-On Head , based on a comic book by Mike Mignola . His series Pushing Daisies started on ABC in the fall of 2007 and was discontinued in late 2008.

In December 2008, he signed a new contract with Universal that brought him back to the Heroes production team . It is not yet known whether he will work as an author or a producer. In 2013 he began to produce the thriller series Hannibal for the National Broadcasting Company , which is based on the fictional life of Hannibal Lecter and tells the story of Thomas Harris ' novel Red Dragon .

In February 2016, it was announced that Fuller would play a key role in developing the Star Trek series Discovery planned for 2017 as a showrunner for the broadcaster CBS . In December 2016, Fuller again announced his complete withdrawal from the new Star Trek series. The series American Gods , which he co-developed and based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman , started in 2017 , although he and co-producer Michael Green had to vacate their showrunner posts in autumn 2017. The reasons given were disputes over the budget and delays in production. In early 2018 it was announced that Fuller is now working on a television adaptation of Chronicle of the Vampires by Anne Rice . He left the project in February 2018.

Fuller is openly gay. He has been with Scott Roberts since 2008.
