The Lewis-Clark State College is a state undergraduate - College in Lewiston , in the US state of Idaho . On 1893 founded College enrolled more than 4,000 students. The neighboring towns of Lewiston and Clarkston give the college its name. The college offers over 80 degrees, most notably its nursing program .

history

Today's college was founded in 1893 as a normal school under the name Lewiston State Normal School . The task was to train teachers for the surrounding schools. Due to financial difficulties, studies could not be started until 1896. In 1943 the educational institution was converted into a college with a four-year training period and it was given the right to award graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. In addition, the college was renamed Northern Idaho College of Education in 1946 .

Due to austerity measures, the college closed in 1951, only to reopen in 1955 as the Lewis-Clark Normal School of the University of Idaho . The task now was to train primary school teachers. In 1963 it became independent from the university and the educational institution was again given the status of a university with a four-year course. It was renamed to its current name in 1971. The study program was expanded over the next few years to include additional courses in order to develop the university into a Liberal Arts College .

Sports

The college's sports teams are called Warriors (women's teams are called Lady Warriors ). You play in the Frontier Conference . The college's baseball team holds a record of 15 championships in the past 31 years.
