port
Clarkston Harbor has the largest crane on navigable water east of Portland . Agriculture is the main industry in the region and the port handles a lot of barges with grain. The paper company Clearwater Paper Corporation transports wood chips and sawdust to the production facilities in Lewiston via barges. Because of its inland location on the Snake River, the port handles goods that are transported downriver to Portland and Vancouver , as well as goods that are shipped to distribution centers upriver.
The port's marina provides accommodations for passenger ships and yachts, many of which sail through the nearby Hells Canyon .
