Neu Zauche manor house
The Manor House Neu Zauche (also Schloss Neu Zauche or Marsh Castle Neu Zauche ) is under monument protection standing manor in the village Neu Zauche in Brandenburg .
History and architecture
The site originally served as a swamp castle . During the Thirty Years War , many people from the area found refuge in the building surrounded by moats. There was a moat until 1973. The current house was probably built in the second half of the 17th century. A two-story plastered house rises on an almost square floor plan on a high base made of field stones. Around 1800 the upper floor was built with a steep hipped roof . So-called bat hatches protrude from the roof in two rows . At that time a distillery and brewery were established here.
A restoration took place from 1985. Currently (as of 2009) the property is empty.
