The original village church of Groß Leuthen was built according to plans by the architect JC Freidmeiler, the west tower was built in 1748. In the 19th century the parish of Groß Leuthen belonged to the superintendent of Lübben. In 1857 the church, which was in danger of collapsing, was torn down down to the steeple. The newly built nave was built in the arched style of the Schinkel School . It is a field stone building with edging of lawn iron stones. The church tower is made of brick and plastered. On the tower there is an octagonal upper floor with a tail hood with a lantern . In 1997 the church underwent an extensive restoration.

The interior of the church has a flat roof and the furnishings are new. The organ was built by Ferdinand Dinse in 1860 and restored in 1984. In the church there are three figure tombstones for the Groß Leuthen landowner Wilhelm Schenk von Landsberg ; Magdalena Schenk, b. Reuss von Plauen, and the couple Albrecht and Eva Schenk.

In 1998 it was renamed the parish of Lübben. The parishes of Groß Leine and Leibchel also belonged to the former parish of Groß Leuthen.
