Holtwick is a district of the municipality of Rosendahl in the district of Coesfeld ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
geography
Holtwick lies on the border with the Borken district , seven kilometers north of the district town of Coesfeld and 40 kilometers northwest of Münster .
Together with Darfeld and Osterwick , Holtwick forms the parish of Rosendahl .
Neighboring towns are Gescher , Legden and Coesfeld . About five kilometers west of the village, east of the A 31 running in north-south direction, is the seven-hectare Holtwicker See . A few hundred meters north of this is the Barenborg nature reserve with the monument of the same name.
history
Holtwick was incorporated on January 1, 1975 in the on July 1, 1969 from the places Darfeld and Osterwick newly formed community Rosendahl.
Attractions
Not far from the Holtwick St. Nicholas Church is the Holtwick Egg , an ice age boulder . Legend has it that the devil hurled the stone with the words “Holt wiek or ick smiet” in the direction of the church. With this legend the origin of the place name Holtwick is explained.
Other sights include the recently restored gatehouse of the former Holtwick manor house .

Holtwick consists of the farming communities Bleck, Brock, Görtfeld, Hegerort, Riege and Schlee and the neighborhoods Am Ei, Donaufürsten, Ziegenprinzen, Eichengrund, Eihook, Haus Holtwick, Heuping, Poahlbörger, Steenhorst.
