John Neal (born April 3, 1932 in Durham , † November 24, 2014 in Rhosddu ) was an English football player and football coach .
Career
Player career
Neal began his career at Hull City as a defense attorney. The Englishman joined the club in 1949. After six years in Hull , he moved to Swindon Town for a year . The high point of his playing career was his involvement with Aston Villa from 1959 to 1962. After three years with Southend United , he ended his career in 1965.
Coaching career
After his career as a player he was coach of the AFC Wrexham . With the Welsh, he won the Welsh Cup twice. After the successful years in Wales he moved to Middlesbrough FC for four years , which he left for Chelsea in 1981 after ongoing disputes over his transfer policy and that of the club . Neal ended his coaching career in 1986 due to persistent heart problems . He last lived in Edinburgh .
