Angersbach is a district of the municipality of Wartenberg in the Vogelsbergkreis in central Hesse with more than 2500 inhabitants in the Lauter valley east of the Hainig .
history
The first documented mention of Angersbach and Zangersbah comes from the year 812 . On September 20, 812, Archbishop of Mainz Richulf (787-813) inaugurated a church in Schlitz in the presence of Abbot Baugulf von Fulda , which was used as a missionary center for the region.
The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Angersbach in 1830:
"Angersbach (L. Bez. Lauterbach) evangel. Parish village; is 1 St. from Lauterbach and belongs to the Baron von Riedesel. This place, which has 198 houses and 1,127 inhabitants, who are Protestant except for 7 Catholics, is one of the wealthiest villages in the whole district. There is 1 church, 1 schoolhouse, 3 mills and sandstone quarries in the area. A significant amount of flax is cultivated, and a lot is spun and woven. Actually, the production of linens and fishes is carried out on a factory basis by Stöppler, who has good sales and therefore employs many people. - Angersbach is occasionally mentioned for the inauguration of the Schlitz church on Sept. 11, 812, and was then assigned to this church. "
