The Protestant parish church is a listed church building in Angersbach , a district of the municipality of Wartenberg in the Vogelsberg district in Hesse .

History and architecture

The high, slightly stepped choir tower , set in two storeys , was built in 1498 with a slim pointed spire and four different corner towers. In the chancel, a ribbed vault rests on consoles. The wall paintings date from around 1500. The nave , a large hall , was built from 1762 to 1763 by Johann Nikolaus Koch. A coat of arms of the Riedesel family is placed above the west portal .

The building was extensively renovated in 1963.

Furnishing

  • A pulpit from 1680, painted by Friedrich Hoffmann in 1786
  • The gallery parapets and the built-in chairs in front of the east wall and in the choir were also painted by Friedrich Hoffmann in 1786
  • A life-size wooden crucifix dates from the second half of the 17th century.
  • A fresco on the inside of the tower from the 12th century shows the image of St. George.
  • The font with figural reliefs is from 1502
  • The organ was built by Johannes Schlottmann in the years 1784–1788 . In 1897 a new building in the old housing followed by Adam Eifert and in 1968 a restoration by Förster & Nicolaus , which included a rescheduling. The instrument has 20 registers , which are divided between two manuals and a pedal.
