Uli Marchsteiner

Uli Marchsteiner (also Ulrich Marchsteiner ; born January 12, 1961 in Schärding , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian designer and curator . He lives and works in Barcelona , Catalonia .

Life

After visiting the BORG in Ried im Innkreis , Marchsteiner studied at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz in the master class for visual design, which he completed in 1984 with a diploma under Laurids Ortner . After completing his studies, Marchsteiner moved to Barcelona, ​​where he has lived since then and works as an exhibition architect, product designer, design theorist and curator. From 1985 to 1993 he worked as a furniture designer for the Spanish architect Óscar Tusquets and developed products for international companies such as BD Ediciones de Diseño, Driade and Vorwerk . In 1993 Marchsteiner founded the umd / c office in Barcelona. In 2014 he received his doctorate with the subject Empty Space as a Paradigm of Modernism with the cultural scientist Thomas Macho at the University for Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz. Uli Marchsteiner has taught at numerous universities as a visiting professor, lecturer and in master's courses. He was also a jury member in many design competitions. Marchsteiner has been professor of furniture design and exhibition curatorium at the EINA design university in Barcelona since 2013 .
