Robert Poydasheff

Robert S. Poydasheff (* around 1930 in New York City ) is an American lawyer and politician .

Life

Poydasheff was born and raised in the Bronx , New York City , and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School . After graduating from school in 1948, he attended the military college The Citadel , where he received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in political science in 1954 . He later studied at the Law School of Tulane University , where he made 1957 its conclusion. He received a Masters in International Relations from Boston University in 1966 .

Poydasheff served for many years in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Benning near Columbus from 1957 to 1963 . He was later transferred to the Judge Advocate General's Corps as a lawyer .

In 2002 he was elected mayor of Columbus to succeed Bobby Peters . His inauguration took place in January 2003. In the next mayoral election in November 2006 he was defeated by Jim Wetherington and was replaced by him on January 2, 2007 in office. After his election defeat, Poydasheff returned to practice as a lawyer.

Poydasheff has been married since 1954 and has two children, a son and a daughter. Both children were born in Columbus.
