The Citadel (military college)
The Citadel , also known as The Military College of South Carolina , is a state college founded in 1842 by German settlers in Charleston , South Carolina , which is one of the leading in the southern states . It is one of only six higher military colleges ( Senior Military College ) in the USA and offers ROTC programs of the US Air Force , Army , Marines and Navy on.
In 2016, around 3,500 students were enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. The graduates include a. Generals William O. Brice (1921), Edwin A. Pollock (1921), William C. Westmoreland (1935), William W. Hartzog (1965) and Glenn M. Walters (1979). Graduates Johnson Hagood (1847), Micah Jenkins (1854), and Evander M. Law (1856) served as Confederate generals in the Civil War .

The college served as the location and location for the episode By Dawn's Early Light (1974, German Des Teufels Korporal ) of the US television series Columbo with Peter Falk.
