Glenn M. Walters
Glenn M. Walters is a general in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and has been the deputy commandant since August 2, 2016 .
Education and career
Glenn Walters began his service in the Marine Corps in May 1979 after a study of electrical engineering at the Military College of South Carolina , which he as part of a training program of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps had graduated.
Service in the rank of general
Promoted to Brigadier General in August 2008 , Walters served two years as Deputy Director Resources and Assessment on the Joint Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon , Washington, DC before being transferred to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in July 2010 , where he served with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and was made major general in August of the following year . In June 2013, he moved back to the Pentagon as Deputy Commandant of Programs and Resources of the Marine Corps , from then on in the rank of Lieutenant General .
On June 7, 2016, the Department of Defense announced that President Barack Obama had nominated Walters to succeed John Paxton as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps. The Congress confirmed the Personnel on June 29, Walters finally entered the position on August 2.
