The National Defense Service Medal is a military award of the US armed forces introduced on April 22, 1953 on the instructions of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and awarded to persons who have participated in the Korean War , the Vietnam War , the Second Gulf War, or the war against the terror involved in active duty.

Multiple awards are marked with a service star.
