Leones Vegetarianos Fútbol Club is an equatorial Guinean football club from Malabo .

history

The association was founded on July 20, 2000 by the militant Spanish vegetarian Juan Manuel Rojas as the Vegetarianos Fútbol Club .

Rojas, originally from Granada , organized a hunger strike in the small Indian town of Pushkar in 2006 to force the construction of a sports field to help train a group of young vegetarians to become football players .

Leones Vegetarianos FC won their first title on October 12, 2014, when they defeated Deportivo Mongomo in the cup final after a 1-1 draw in regular time with 5-4 on penalties . Five months later, on March 19, 2015, a 1-0 win against record champions Sony de Ela Nguema won the Supercup. In 2017 the club won the state championship for the first time .
