Mubarak Wakaso (born July 25, 1990 in Tamale ) is a Ghanaian football player . He is currently under contract with Deportivo Alavés .
Career
society
Wakaso began his professional career after spending his youth at SC Adelaide , in 2007 with Ashanti Gold in the Ghana Premier League . In 2008 he moved to the Spanish second list FC Elche . After three years, Mubarak went to Liga rivals Villarreal B . Thanks to his good performances, the Ghanaian was promoted to the senior squad and made his debut in the Primera División on February 27, 2011 when he came on for José Catalá in the 2-2 draw against Racing Santander . In the summer of 2012 he moved to Espanyol Barcelona and became a regular there. In August 2014 he joined Celtic Glasgow on loan in Scotland.
At the beginning of 2014, Wakaso's four-month-old son, who had already been ill, died in his Ghanaian homeland, Tamale . In July 2015, the Ghanaian fell ill with malaria after a stay in his home country ; in 2012 he had already contracted malaria.
In 2015 Wakaso switched to UD Las Palmas on a one-year loan . In July 2016 he went to Panathinaikos Athens on a free transfer , but only stayed there for six months. In winter he was loaned to Granada CF until the end of the season . In 2017 he joined Deportivo Alavés on a free transfer . There he made his debut in August of the same year against CD Leganés .
National team
In 2005 Wakaso took part with the U-17 national team of Ghana at the Junior World Cup in Peru , where he played two games and was eliminated with the team after the preliminary round. On October 13, 2012, Mubarak made his debut for Ghana's senior team in a 1-0 win over Malawi , and on November 14, 2011 he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win over Cape Verde . In January and February 2013, the midfielder was in the squad at the African Cup of Nations in South Africa , where he scored four goals in five games. He took part in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with Ghana .
