Diego Rolán , full name Diego Alejandro Rolán Silva , (born March 24, 1993 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player who is currently under contract in the Segunda División at Deportivo La Coruña and on loan to Deportivo Alavés .

Club career

Beginnings in Uruguay

According to the sources, Rolán, who is 1.76 meters tall, is the great-nephew of the two-time Copa Libertadores winner and two-time Argentine champion Tomás Rolán . His cousin Marcelo Romero took part in the 2002 World Cup with Uruguay . He started his youth career at an early age with four-time Uruguayan champions Defensor Sporting , whose youth team he joined at the age of eleven. In 2011, at the age of 18, he was finally promoted to the first team, where he soon became a fixture. In his first season 2011/12 he was on the field a total of 23 times and scored two goals. At the latest in the following season he became a top performer and regular player. In the Hinserie (Apertura) he was used 15 times and scored eight goals, including two three-packs. In addition, Rolán completed three Copa Libertadores matches for the Montevideans.

Girondins Bordeaux

At the end of January 2013, the French first division club Girondins Bordeaux signed the center forward, who was looked after by the player's agent Jorge Chijane . A transfer fee of 2.8 million US dollars is assumed. Rolán signed a contract in Bordeaux until 2017. He made his Ligue 1 debut on February 17, 2013 in a 4-0 defeat by Olympique Lyon . He made his debut in the Europa League on February 14th . Rolán completed seven league games (no goal) in the entire second half of his first season in France. In the 2013/14 season , which ended his club in seventh place in the table, Rolán came to 18 other Ligue 1 appearances and scored two league goals; there were also four templates . National team

U- 20

Rolán made his debut on May 5, 2011 under coach Juan Verzeri as part of the Suwon Cup in the encounter with New Zealand's U-20 team as his country's U-20 national team. As an 18-year-old, he was in the Uruguayan squad at the 2011 World Cup and was used once. In early 2013 he was part of the Celeste squad at the 2013 U-20 South American Championship . There he played nine games and scored four goals. In July 2013, he was then runner-up with Uruguay at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 . He participated in five games. In total, Rolán has so far (as of July 5, 2013) 29 U-20 international appearances, in which he scored seven international goals.

Olympic selection

In the run-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics, Rolán was also part of the U-23 squad set up by national coach Óscar Tabárez . Ultimately, however, he was not nominated.

According to the Uruguayan Football Association, Rolán played a total of 31 international matches in the various Uruguayan national teams and scored seven goals (as of September 5, 2014). A precise assignment to the teams remains open in this list.

A national team

For the two friendly matches against Japan and South Korea on 5 and 8 September 2014 Rolán was national coach Óscar Tabárez in the levy of the senior team appointed.
