Tomáš Řepka (born January 2, 1974 in Slavičín ) is a former Czech football player .

Player career

His youth clubs were Sokol Brumov and TJ Gottwaldov . He started his professional career at Baník Ostrava , where he played from 1991 to 1995. He then moved to Sparta Prague and stayed there for three seasons. In the summer of 1998, AC Florence signed him . In 2001 the club ran into financial difficulties and was forced to sell its best players. Řepka moved to West Ham United for 5.5 million British pounds .

In his debut for the London club, Řepka, known for his rude and aggressive style of play, was sent off and suspended for one game. But in his third game for West Ham he saw the red card again. However, West Ham fans nicknamed him "Super Tom". At the beginning of 2006 he expressed the desire to go back to his home country and switched to Sparta Prague for around 1 million euros . In January 2012 Řepka moved to Dynamo České Budějovice . There he was sorted out in December, whereupon he ended his professional career. Since September 2013 he has been playing for the sixth division SK Hvozdnice in Hvozdnice u Davle .

Tomáš Řepka made his debut on June 16, 1993 in the Faroe Islands for the Czechoslovak national team . He then played another 45 times for the Czech national team , most recently on November 10, 2001 in Brussels against Belgium . In this game he saw the red card in the 42nd minute of the game, the Czech Republic lost the relegation first leg to the 2002 World Cup with 0: 1. Řepka announced his resignation from the national team after missing the World Cup qualification.

From a human point of view, Řepka is considered a hothead, someone who doesn't mince his words. This earned him an above-average number of warnings and dismissals on the pitch. Thanks to his commitment and willingness to fight, he was extremely popular with Sparta Prague fans.
