Niklas Hoheneder (born August 17, 1986 in Linz ) is an Austrian football player .
life and career
Hoheneder began his career at Union Lembach and joined the LASK youth team via FC Linz in 1998 after its merger with LASK. In 2003 he joined the first team in Linz. This year he also made his debut in the second highest division in Austria. After a few years as an active player, Hoheneder became a regular player for Upper Austria . In 2007 he made the promotion with the LASK and made his debut in the top Austrian league in July in the first round against SK Austria Kärnten . Hoheneder played through the 1-0 victory.
Internationally, Hoheneder first played in the Austrian U-19 team, then from 2007 to 2008 in the U-21 national team .
In summer 2009 Hoheneder moved to Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic . There he fought for a regular place after teething problems in spring 2010 and played in the Europa League in autumn . For the spring 2011 season, FK Austria Wien brought him back to the Bundesliga on loan until the end of the season. There he is said to to Switzerland for FC Basel migrated Aleksandar Dragovic replace. The Viennese also had a purchase option with a contract extension option until June 2014, which they did not use. Therefore he signed a two-year contract with Karlsruher SC in mid-June 2011 . There he played 13 second division games and one game in the DFB Cup.
In January 2012 he moved to regional league team RB Leipzig . At the end of the season he took third place with Leipzig in the Regionalliga Nord and thus missed the promotion aimed at by the club. In the following season 2012/13 , the team won the championship in the Regionalliga Nordost and rose to the 3rd division after two relegation games against Sportfreunde Lotte . Hoheneder was on the field in 28 of 30 league games and the two relegation games and scored two goals. In the third division season 2013/14 Hoheneder defended his regular place and played in 33 of 38 games. At the end of the season he reached second place in the table with the team and thus RB Leipzig made it through to the 2nd Bundesliga in the first third division season in the club's history . Hoheneder also went into the second division season as a regular player. On matchday three, a home game against FC Erzgebirge Aue , he landed on his head after a duel and contracted a sprain in his cervical spine. Only with luck did he avoid serious and permanent injuries. Hoheneder played his first competitive game three months later, but even six months after the accident, the injury had not yet healed. At the end of the season, Hoheneder only had ten league games to book. RB Leipzig occupied fifth place in the table. His contract, which expired after the season, was not renewed.
For the 2015/16 season , Hoheneder moved to league rivals SC Paderborn 07 . He received a two-year contract with the Bundesliga relegated team until June 30, 2017. After SC's relegation, Hoheneder moved to Holstein Kiel .
At the beginning of the 2018/19 season , Niklas Hoheneder joined the regional division Chemnitzer FC and rose to the third division as champions at the end of the season . In the following season , the Austrian was appointed team captain by head coach David Bergner as the successor to the dismissed Daniel Frahn .
