Beginnings

Frahn had played in the youth team of SSV Turbine Potsdam until 2001, before he worked in the youth department of Energie Cottbus from the age of 14 to 19 . In 2005 he moved up to the Lausitzer second team, played twelve games in the Oberliga Nordost and scored one goal. On September 18, 2005 (5th matchday) he played his first second division game : coach Petrik Sander replaced him in the 84th minute for Markus Dworrak in the 5-1 win of the professional team in the home game against Alemannia Aachen .

For the 2006/07 season Frahn moved to Hertha BSC and came in the only season for the second team to 31 regional league appearances, in which he scored four goals. Hertha BSC II was relegated to 18th place in the table and Frahn joined the newly promoted SV Babelsberg 03 in his native Potsdam.

SV Babelsberg 03

With the Babelsbergers, Frahn finished 15th at the end of the 2007/08 season and thus missed qualifying for the newly created 3rd division . In the following season he reached third place in the table with Babelsberg, where he more than doubled his goal count from the previous season from five to eleven goals. In the 2009/10 season he was finally champion of the Regionalliga Nord with SV Babelsberg and rose to the 3rd division. Frahn also won the top scorer's crown with 29 goals that season.

RB Leipzig

Frahn remained in the regional league, however, and joined the newly promoted RB Leipzig for the 2010/11 season , with whom he signed a contract that was binding until June 30, 2013. With Leipzig he finished fourth in the table at the end of the season. Before the start of the new season , the new coach Peter Pacult made him team captain. In the first main round of the DFB-Pokal on July 29, 2011 Frahn scored all three of his team's goals in the 3-2 win over Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in the Red Bull Arena . At the end of the season he reached third place in the table with Leipzig and won the top scorer's crown with 26 goals.

With 20 goals in 27 league games, which again brought him the top scorer's crown, he contributed to the championship in the Regionalliga Nordost in his third season . Frahn extended his contract to the summer of 2016 early in the season. After two relegation games against Sportfreunde Lotte , which Frahn could not contest due to an inner ligament tear, RB rose to the 3rd division.

On July 19, 2013 (1st matchday) Frahn scored his first goal in a professional league and the first third division of RB Leipzig with the winning goal to make it 1-0 in the 23rd minute in the away game against Halleschen FC . In total, Frahn came to 34 missions in the third division season and scored 19 goals. At the end of the season he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team .

Frahn also went into the second division season as team captain. On the second day of the match he had the opportunity to score the first second division goal for RB Leipzig with a penalty. He forgave, however, and Yussuf Poulsen scored the premier goal. Frahn scored his first goal in the 2nd Bundesliga on matchday three at home against FC Erzgebirge Aue . Until the winter break, Frahn was on the starting line-up except for four games. During the winter break, RB Leipzig strengthened themselves in the storm with Omer Damari , Emil Forsberg and Yordi Reyna . Frahn could not prevail against the new competition and only came to a few short appearances as a result. He played his last game in the starting XI on the last day of the game in the meaningless game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth . Here he scored his fourth second division. In the summer Frahn left the club after five years, four of them as captain. During this time he played 163 competitive games (23 second division, 34 third division, 92 regional league, 5 DFB Cup and 9 Saxony Cup games), scored 93 goals and celebrated two promotions and two Saxony Cup victories. Until June 27, 2020, the Brandenburg man was Leipzig's record goal scorer before Timo Werner outbid him by two goals.

1. FC Heidenheim

For the 2015/16 season he moved to league competitor 1. FC Heidenheim , with whom he signed a two-year contract. After failing to assert himself there, he moved to the third division for Chemnitzer FC in January 2016 .

Chemnitzer FC

On March 9, 2019 Frahn held a black T-shirt with the words "Support your local hooligans" (dt .: "Support your local after a goal hooligans high") to his grief for the extreme right to express Thomas Haller. The association punished him for sending unsolicited messages, and Frahn declared that he was "unaware of the widespread use of the shirt in the Nazi scene". On March 12th, Frahn was temporarily banned from playing by the Northeast German Football Association (NOFV). Because of the incidents, he received a ban on four regional league games from the NOFV sports court, two of which were suspended and the other two had already been suspended due to the temporary ban, as well as a fine of 3000 euros.

For the 2019/20 third division season , Frahn was named the new team captain by David Bergner's coaching team after the team's rise. He inherited Dennis Grote , who had left the club.

As part of the away game at Halleschen FC on the 4th matchday, which Frahn followed from the guest fan block of Chemnitzer FC due to injury, he should openly show his sympathies for the right-wing extremist hooligan groups Kaotic Chemnitz and NS-Boys (dissolved since April 2019) whereupon Chemnitzer FC parted ways with him on August 5th with immediate effect. Against his termination without notice, Frahn went to the Chemnitz Labor Court in August . There he got the right on December 11 of the same year, the extraordinary termination of the association was declared ineffective “for insufficient reasons”. Consequently, the Chemnitz FC would have to keep Frahn busy and allow him to participate in team activities. On the day the verdict was announced, the club declared that it wanted to appeal the verdict and continue to exclude him from playing and training. Shortly before the end of the transfer period in January 2020, the contract between Daniel Frahn and Chemnitzer FC was terminated by mutual agreement.

Return to SV Babelsberg 03

Shortly before the end of the winter transfer period in January 2020, Frahn returned to SV Babelsberg 03, where he signed a contract until the end of the season. Before the season break ordered due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the attacker had played five league games in which he scored two goals. During this interruption, his expiring contract was extended for another two years.

National team

Frahn played an international match wearing the DFB jersey : On April 24, 2006, he was used in Stettin in the 1-0 win of the U19 national team against Poland from the 73rd minute.
