Timo Marjamaa (born June 27, 1976 in Lahti ) is a former Finnish football player . The defensive player appeared several times for the Finnish national team .
Career
Marjamaa began his career at FC Kuusysi , for whom he made his debut in October 1995 in the Veikkausliiga . At the end of the season he rose with the club in the second division, where he established himself as a regular player. With the club, to which he remained loyal even after the merger with Reipas Lahti to form FC Lahti , he played for the re-promotion, which succeeded in 1998. He represented the club one season in the first class, after the direct relegation he moved to FC Jokerit .
With his new club Marjamaa was runner-up in the 2000 season alongside Shefki Kuqi , Antti Sumiala and Sami Ristilä behind Haka Valkeakoski . In the same year he was on the squad of the Finnish national team for the King's Cup , in which the team finished second after a 1: 5 final defeat against Thailand . In the following season he only occupied the relegation place with the team. There, after a 1-1 draw against Jaro Pietarsaari , the club missed relegation due to a 3-4 home defeat in the second leg. He then accepted an offer from the Turkish club Yozgatspor to play in the Süper Lig . In the second half of the 2001/02 season , however, he could not give any decisive impetus, so that he had to relegate with his new club.
Marjamaa returned to Finland after half a year abroad. Again he ran for FC Lahti, which has now made a first-class appearance. After the end of the 2002 season, however, he moved to league rivals AC Allianssi . In his first season for the team he reached the cup final at the side of Adriano , Heikki Pulkkinen , Justus Vajanne and Rami Rantanen , which was lost despite a goal by Mikko Paatelainen with a 2-1 defeat after extra time against HJK Helsinki . In the following season he reached the runner-up behind FC Haka with the team and thus qualified for the European Cup. In the same year he celebrated his first title win when his former club FC Lahti was defeated on penalties in the final of the Finnish League Cup . In the following year, in the same pairing of the final, they defended their title with a 3-1 win. In the UEFA Cup 2005/06 he moved with the team in the second qualifying round, where the Norwegian representative SK Brann prevailed.
After the end of the 2005 season, in which because of an 8-0 defeat against FC Haka investigations against Marjamaa's club were started on suspicion of match-fixing, he moved within the league to HJK Helsinki. There he was under contract for two seasons before ending his active career.
