Yozgat (old name Bozok , also Josgad ) is a city in Central Anatolia and the capital of the province of the same name . At the same time, it is the center of a district directly subordinate to the governor (Vali), the central district ( Merkez ). It is located about 220 km east of Ankara in a valley of the Ak Mountains.

district

The central district ( Merkez ) already existed when the Turkish Republic was founded in 1923 and is the largest in terms of area and the most populous in the province. It is located in the northern part of the same and borders in the north on the province of Çorum . It borders on Sorgun County to the east, Boğazlıyan County to the south, Şefaatli County to the southwest and Yerköy County to the west .

The district consists of the city ( Belediye ) Yozgat and 96 villages ( Köy ). These have a total population of 15,004 inhabitants. Each village has an average of 154 inhabitants, 40 villages have more inhabitants than the average. The population ranges from 860 ( Çadırardıç ) down to 13. The former villages Azizlibağları , Divanlı and Sarıhacılı became districts ( Mahalle ) of Yozgat in 2018 .
