Yenifakılı is a city and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Yozgat . The place is about 70 kilometers south of the provincial capital Yozgat and is connected by country roads with Kozaklı in the west and Boğazlıyan in the east. The railway line from Ankara to Kayseri runs through Yenifakılı . According to the city seal, the place received the status of a Belediye (municipality) in 1950 .

The district is located in the southwest of the province. It is bordered by Şefaatli County to the north, Boğazlıyan County to the east and Kırşehir Province to the west . The Felahiye Deresi River crosses the county from the east . It flows into the Fehimli Deresi coming from the south near the district town , which further north changes its name to Karasu Çayı and later unites with the Kanak Çayı to the Delice Çayı near Şefaatli . The Fehimli Deresi arises in the south of the district in the reservoir Fehimli Barajı from the confluence of the Koru Deresi and Çırıkpınar Deresi . North of the main town is the mountain Sırçalı Dağ with a height of 1,539 meters.

The district was created in 1990 by splitting the nine towns (3 Belediye, 6 Koy) of Bucaks Fakılı from the circle Boğazlıya. In the last census before the change of area (1985) the Bucak Fakılı had 16,802 inhabitants, i.e. 26.85% of the then district population.

At the end of 2018, the district of Yenifakılı consisted of the district town (49.93% of the district's population) and seven villages ( Köy ) with an average of 396 residents. The population ranges from 1,107 ( Bektaşlı ) to 72. Before Çayıralan district, Yenifakılı district had the second lowest population density in the province (14.2 inhabitants per km²).
