Ahmet Hakan

Ahmet Hakan Coşkun (* 1967 in Yozgat ) is a Turkish journalist and television presenter .

Hakan was born in 1967 in Yozgat, the son of a mufti . Due to the numerous transfers of his father, he spent his childhood in different regions of Anatolia. He studied Islamic theology in Bursa and Istanbul . He began his professional career in 1993 as a reporter for the television station TGRT . In 1995 he switched to the channel Kanal 7 , where he first worked as an anchorman and then as a talk show host . He also began to write columns; first for the daily newspaper Yeni Şafak , from 2002 for the Sabah .

In 2005 he switched to CNN Türk , where he has hosted a talk show called Tarafsız Bölge ( impartial zone ) since then . Since then he has been writing columns for Hürriyet , which also belongs to the Doğan media group . Some of them are also published in English by Hürriyet Daily News . In January 2017, he was also spokesman for the main news program of the Doğan station Kanal D .

In October 2015, he was attacked by four men who had been following him after a broadcast. He suffered minor injuries. He had previously been publicly threatened by a columnist for the AKP- affiliated daily Star and an AKP MP. Two of the attackers were security workers with a criminal record and members of the AKP. The attackers were convicted and Hakan received compensation for pain and suffering.

Some of the detailed conversations that Hakan had on his channel 7 show appeared in book form; including interviews with Orhan Pamuk , Vedat Türkali , Deniz Baykal , Orhan Gencebay and Yaşar Nuri Öztürk .
