Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu (born November 15, 1956 in Yozgat ) is a Turkish diplomat. From 2013 to 2016 he was the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Germany .

Life

As a child, Karslıoğlu spent a few years with his parents in Germany. He later attended the Ankara- Cumhuriyet High School and the Faculty of Political Science of Ankara University , Department of External Relations. After completing his studies, he became a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 , initially a civil servant candidate and III. Secretary in the Department of Information and Research. After various positions at the headquarters in Ankara, from 1984 his external positions were in Tehran , New York and Oslo . In 1986 he became Deputy Consul at the Consulate General in Sydney . In 2001 he was appointed consul general in Batumi , Georgia . In 2004 he headed the Department for Central Asia at the Ministry, and in 2007 he became ambassador to Baku, Azerbaijan . In 2008 he became head of cabinet of Turkish President Abdullah Gül . On September 26, 2011 the decree was published in the official gazette, which appointed him ambassador to Germany. He was officially appointed on January 15, 2012. On October 30, 2012, he was able to open the new building of the Turkish Embassy in Berlin in the presence of several top politicians from both countries .

In line with his country's official policy, Karslıoğlu campaigned for his country to join the European Union. He tried to find Turkish teachers for German kindergartens in order to make it easier for people of Turkish origin in Germany to decide to go to kindergarten and thus to improve the education and integration of children of Turkish origin.

In the course of the political disputes between the Turkish and German governments on the occasion of the Bundestag resolution of June 2, 2016 on the recognition of the Turkish genocide against the Armenians , Karslıoğlu was withdrawn from Berlin as ambassador. Ali Kemal Aydın was his successor .

Karslıoğlu is married, has two children and speaks fluent German and English .
