Hakan Ünsal (born May 14, 1973 in Sinop ) is a former Turkish football player .

Career

Club career

Ünsal's career began at Karabükspor . For the 1993/1994 season he moved to Galatasaray Istanbul , where he later had his greatest successes. Ünsal won the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup with Galatasaray and was four times Turkish champion.

In the winter of 2002, Ünsal moved to the Blackburn Rovers . After only half a year he returned to Galatasaray. In 2004/05, Ünsal changed clubs for the last time and played for Çaykur Rizespor . After a year in Rize , he ended his career.

National team

Ünsal played 33 games for the Turkish national team . He took with Turkey in the Euro 2000 and World Cup 2002 in part and in 2002 World Cup third parties. Ünsal became known during the game against Brazil : Rivaldo had delayed the game with a score of 1: 2 during a corner, Ünsal was upset and shot the ball against Rivaldo's legs. This fell and put his hands in front of his face. The referee sent Ünsal off the field prematurely.
