Stuart James Taylor (born November 28, 1980 in Romford ) is an English football player .

Career

In the club

Taylor began his career in 1997 as a substitute goalkeeper for then goalkeeper David Seaman at Arsenal . The goalkeeper was under contract with the Londoners from 1997 to 2005. During this time he was awarded to the Bristol Rovers (1999), Crystal Palace (2000), Peterborough United (2001) and Leicester City (2004/05). Taylor played a total of 18 competitive games for the Highbury Stadium men. After Jens Lehmann and Manuel Almunia signed with the Gunners in 2003 and 2004 respectively, Taylor had no choice but to leave the club in 2005 for Birmingham to Aston Villa . He was there second goalkeeper behind the Dane Thomas Sørensen .

National team

Taylor played for the English U-20 team at the FIFA Youth World Cup in 1999 with today's greats like Peter Crouch and Ashley Cole . He was also called up three times for the England U-21 national team.
