Wales finished second in the group behind Sweden and were eliminated in the quarter-finals against eventual world champions Brazil after a goal by Pelé . After his dismissal as a coach in the club and the national team, he became a journalist . Dave Bowen died in 1995 at the age of 67. The North Stand of Northampton Town Stadium now bears his name.
