Stephen Andrew "Steve" Bould (born November 16, 1962 in Stoke-on-Trent ) is a former English football player .

life and career

Bould began his career as a teenager with his home club Stoke City in 1978. In November 1981, the Englishman got a professional contract. Bould made his debut in September 1981 against Middlesbrough FC . After initial problems with a regular seat, he was loaned out to Torquay United for two months . Upon his return, the central defender became a regular player immediately. In 1987 after a serious injury and a possible end to his career, the Englishman fought his way back and moved to Arsenal a year after performing well . With the Gunners he won the English championship three times in ten years, twice the English Cup, once the English League Cup and once the European Cup Winners' Cup. After his successful years at Highbury , he moved to Sunderland AFC in 1999 for £ 500,000 . Immediately captain of the team, he had to end his career after only one season due to persistent injury problems. Internationally, he played twice for the English national football team .

From 2001 to 2012 Bould was youth coach at Arsenal FC. In 2012 he took over the position of assistant manager of the association from the retiring Pat Rice .
