Kim Bender

Kim Bender (born July 24, 1969 in Neustadt am Rübenberge ) is a German-speaking author and the pseudonym of the literary scholar and publisher Tanja Weiß.

Life

She wrote her first story at the age of seven. Her first short story was published in 1989. After a bank apprenticeship and various internships (including at ZDF ), she studied English , American and German . After completing her master's degree in English and German literature and linguistics, she worked as a local editor for six years before starting her doctorate in German studies and teaching at the University of Hanover in 2003 . In December 2006 she finished her dissertation on "Performances in Minnesang and Rock". In addition to her writing activities, the author teaches German, English and pedagogy at the University of Hanover (until 2007), the Volkshochschule Hannover Land and a private fashion school in Hanover. Since 2003 she has also been working as a publisher in her own publishing house, the "Rübenberger Verlag Tanja Weiß".

Kim Bender lives in Neustadt am Rübenberge near Hanover.

Works

She is mostly known for her youth novels, but also writes adult novels, scripts and short stories. She made her literary debut in 2002 with the youth novel Schonzeit für Tontauben , which is about bullying at school. The novel, which is recommended for reading in schools by the ministries of culture in the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as well as Brandenburg (here with the words Both the topic and the chosen "happy ending" offer different approaches to discussion in the classroom. ) is meanwhile the subject of German lessons in many schools. It is told from the perpetrator's first-person perspective. Also with her second youth novel not half as bad , which is about prejudice, friendships between boys and a young punk band, the author attracted the attention of the critics.
