Sean Mark Dyche (born June 28, 1971 in Kettering , England ) is a former English football player and current coach of the English first division club Burnley FC . In the 2013/14 and 2015/16 seasons he achieved promotion to the Premier League with Burnley .

Player career

Between 1990 and 1997, the center-back Sean Dyche played at Chesterfield FC . He celebrated his greatest success in the 1994/95 season with promotion to the third division. He also caused a stir with the third division team in the 1996/97 FA Cup when the team surprisingly made it to the semi-finals before they were eliminated from Middlesbrough FC . In 1997 he moved to Bristol City and rose with his new team directly to the second division, before the direct relegation took place in the following year. Due to short periods of play and interim loan to the third division Luton Town , he moved to Millwall FC in 1999 . In 2001 he won with the team from London the championship title in the third division and moved in the subsequent Football League First Division 2001/02 as fourth in the play-offs. There the club failed prematurely on the later promoted Birmingham City . After three seasons at the second division Watford FC between 2002 and 2005, he moved to the fourth division Northampton Town in 2005 , with whom he was promoted to the third division in 2006.

Coaching career

Watford FC

After his playing career, Sean Dyche moved as a youth coach to Watford FC , where he served as Malky Mackay's assistant coach from 2009 . On June 21, 2011, he was introduced as the club's new head coach. In the Football League Championship 2011/12 , he led his team to eleventh place in the table. After the season ended, the club's new owner announced the separation from Sean Dyche.

Burnley FC

On October 30, 2012 Dyche took over the post of coach at the second division Burnley FC and ended the 2012/13 season in eleventh place. At the end of the season, the team with Charlie Austin (24 hits) lost their top scorer to the Queens Park Rangers . Despite this loss, Burnley succeeded in the Football League Championship 2013/14 as runner-up in the promotion to the Premier League . With Danny Ings and Sam Vokes , who each scored 20 league goals, Dyche had successfully compensated for the departure of Austin. With only 37 goals conceded in 46 games, the team also had the best defense in the league. Sean Dyche was voted coach of the month in the second division in September and October 2013 and April 2014.
