Matěj Vydra (born May 1, 1992 in Chotěboř ) is a Czech football player who has been under contract with the English first division club FC Burnley since 2018 .

Career

In the club

Vydra started playing football at the age of five with FC Chotěboř. In 2003 the striker moved to FC Vysočina Jihlava . In the 2007/08 season he was used in the B-Juniors, from summer 2008 in the A-Juniors. In the winter break of 2008/09 Vydra made the leap into the professional squad of the second division . The then 16-year-old attacker scored his first competitive goal on March 27, 2009 in his team's 4-0 victory over FK Ústí nad Labem . Overall, Vydra came in his first professional season on twelve missions, five of them from the beginning (601 minutes). He got two hits. In the first half of the 2009/10 season Matěj Vydra belonged to the regular formation of FC Vysočina Jihlava. In January 2010, the attacker moved to FC Baník Ostrava . In Ostrava, Vydra quickly played her way into the regular formation and scored four goals in 14 appearances. In June 2010 Vydra moved to the Italian Serie A representative Udinese Calcio . For the first half of the 2011/12 season, Vydra was eligible to play on loan at the Belgian first division club Club Brugge , then returned to Italy. In the summer of 2012, the English second division club Watford FC Matej Vydra for a year. There the striker scored 20 goals in 36 games.

In the national team

Vydra was used in the Czech U-16 , U-17 , U-18 , U-19 and U-21 teams. On September 8, 2012 he made his international debut for the senior team under coach Michal Bílek . He was 0-0 in the World Cup qualifier against Denmark in the park in Copenhagen .
