In the summer of 2007, he completed the pre-season with the professionals, because his teammate from the reserve, Lee Sawyer , was injured. On July 14, he played his first game for the pros against Club America , during the preparation he was mainly used as a left defender.

Cork spent the 2007/08 season on loan from Scunthorpe United . There he played 35 league games and despite being relegated to Football League One , he was voted "Player of the Year". He scored his two goals this season against Coventry City . On November 27th for a 1-1 draw and on March 1st, 2008 for a 2-1 home win.

In August 2008 he was loaned to Southampton FC until January 1, 2009 . Cork wanted to stay there until the end of the season but had to be back in January. He was then promptly awarded again, until the end of the season for Watford FC . On January 24, he scored his first goal in the FA Cup in a 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace .

On August 21, 2009, he extended his contract with Chelsea by three years and was then loaned to Coventry City until December . In the 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur , he scored Burnley FC's fourth goal with a header. The day before, his father said in a local newspaper that Jack would like to leave Chelsea for the summer.

On August 8, 2010, Chelsea announced that Cork could leave the club in the event of an offer of at least two million pounds sterling . However, he returned to Burnley FC by the end of the season on August 12 , much to the delight of coach Brian Laws . On November 27, he scored the 2-1 winner against Derby County in the 90th minute .
