Matthew John Lowton (born June 9, 1989 in Chesterfield ) is an English football player who plays for Burnley FC in the Premier League . He can play in a number of defensive positions, acts on the pitch but mostly as a right -back .

Career

Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Lowton joined Sheffield United Academy in 2004 . He was transferred to the lower class Sheffield FC and to the Hungarian team Ferencváros before he was able to establish himself in the United first team from 2010. Lowton became a key player and was rewarded with a contract extension in August 2011.

In 2012, he moved to Aston Villa for a transfer fee of approximately £ 3m and made his Premier League debut on August 18, 2012 against West Ham United . After three seasons and 72 appearances in the Premier League, he moved to the second division club Burnley FC in 2015 for a transfer fee of 1 million pounds. Lowton rose in the following season with the club in the Premier League.
