The Acoustic Tour is the fourth independent tour of the German singer-songwriter Madeline Juno .

background

The Acoustic Tour was the sixth tour - the fourth as headliner - by Madeline Juno. This was a club tour that Juno took through five German cities from February 14 to February 18, 2019. Juno gave her first concerts in four out of five clubs, and she played for the second time in Nochtspeicher in Hamburg after a concert as part of her The Unknown Tour on September 7, 2019. The Hamburg company Neuland Concerts was won over as tour organizer .

Musically, Juno was supported on stage by her long-time band member Joschka Bender on cajón and guitar . Juno himself played guitar and ukulele on selected tracks . The set consisted of a few strings of lights and a neon sign on which the sentence "It's in my DNA" could be read. Juno played some concerts standing up, at some she sat on a bar stool .

On October 29, 2018, Juno first gave a hint that she would go on tour again. After a fan was sad about not being able to attend a concert at Junos this year, Junos replied with the words “After the tour is before the tour!”. Two weeks later, on November 12, 2018, Juno reached out to her fans with the words "Big news this Wednesday". On November 14, 2018, Juno finally confirmed the Acoustic Tour would take place . Advance sales started again two days later on November 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Central European Time ( UTC + 1 ). After less than a week, the concerts in Berlin and Hamburg were sold out on November 22, 2018. Juno then promised that she would present new songs when the other concerts were also sold out. On November 27, 2018, Juno announced via Facebook that the card contingent for Hamburg had been increased. In the following two weeks, all tickets for the other three concerts in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main and Munich were also sold, which meant that the tour was sold out.

Opening act

Varley in Munich.

The Berlin-based German-Irish folk and indie pop band Valery confirmed on their official Facebook page on January 29, 2019 that they would support Juno at all concerts. The band consists of the three members Joschka Bender, Matthias Heising and Claire-Ann Varley. Like Juno, the trio presented an acoustic set of seven tracks. Because Bender belongs to Juno's live band and he also accompanied them during their acoustic tour , he could not be on stage with his band. Heising and Varley performed as a duo during the tour, Bender only came on stage for the last song Roamer . Varley's setlist consisted of seven titles, only two of which were previously released. There was no special presentation album during the tour, as Varley only released two singles for music streaming and no album at that time. Before the tour, the songs Roamer (February 16, 2018) and Lonely Were the Days (September 20, 2018) were released as a single. Roamer was also released in a remix version by Jaime as a single for single download (February 23, 2018). During the tour, Varley played the following tracks:

  1. Proof
  2. Deep Dark Sea
  3. Phantom Studies
  4. See You Naked
  5. Gangsta's Paradise
  6. Lonely Were the Days
  7. Roamer

During the tour, Juno and her accompanying musician presented 18 different tracks. The repertoire consisted of an acoustic set with German-language songs. After Juno has already played five series of concerts - three of them as headliners - this is Juno's first tour without its own English title. The size of the set list varied between 17 and 18 songs. The heading of the titles always remained the same. The opening concert in Nochtspeicher in Hamburg initially consisted of 17 titles. From the second concert at the Auster Club in Berlin, the set list consisted of 18 tracks.

A little more than half of the setlist consisted of tracks from Juno's latest studio album, DNA, as well as tracks from older releases and previously unreleased tracks. From DNA , Juno presented exactly two thirds of the track list (10 songs). On her previous DNA tour , she played all the tracks on the album. During the Acoutic Tour , the titles Three words , Hold me tight , My heart is dancing , Our song and From now on were omitted . In addition, there are two tracks from the Waldbrand EP, Verlernt and Waldbrand, and Herzchen, a track from the “Deluxe Version” of Juno's second studio album Salvation . The remaining five tracks have not yet been found on any Junos album. The song Borderline was released as a single on June 15, 2018 and, like the at that time unreleased tracks, is reason enough , Before you and Was remains part of Juno's fourth studio album Was remains , which was released the following year. From the second concert in Berlin, Juno regularly sang the Elvis-Presley cover Can't Help Falling in Love . Her interpretation of the piece has never been published before or until today, she only sang the piece during this series of concerts.

During the entire tour, the encore consisted of the two tracks Was remains and Still . One of the special things in Düsseldorf was that Juno and her accompanying musician had to go through the audience to the stage. In order to avoid greater effort, Juno stayed on stage after the main program and played the two encores without major interruptions.
