Charles "Charlie" Austin (born July 5, 1989 in Hungerford ) is an English football player who has been under contract with West Bromwich Albion since 2019 .

Player career

Swindon Town (2009-2011)

Charlie Austin, who was previously active for various amateur clubs, moved to English third division club Swindon Town on July 1, 2009 and signed a contract until the end of the season. After his convincing performance, the club provided him with a new two and a half year contract on February 2, 2010. In the Football League One 2009/10 Austin scored twenty league goals and reached the play-offs with Swindon as fifth. After a first round success over Charlton Athletic , he failed with his team in the final in Wembley with 0-2 at Millwall FC .

Burnley FC (2011-2013)

On January 28, 2011, Charlie Austin was signed by the second division Burnley FC . After four league appearances in February 2011, he suffered a shoulder injury in training and was out until the end of the season. In the championship season 2011/12 Austin scored sixteen league goals, but missed the hoped-for play-off entry with Burnley. In the course of the 2012/13 season he was able to increase his hit rate with 24 hits.

Queens Park Rangers (2013-2016)

For the 2013/14 season Austin moved to the Premier League relegated Queens Park Rangers . With Queens Park, the attacker, who scored 17 goals in 31 games, reached fourth place and thus the play-offs for promotion.

Southampton FC (2016-2019)

In January 2016 he moved to the first division club Southampton FC . He signed a contract valid until June 2020. A year before the end of his contract in Southampton, Austin moved to West Bromwich Albion in August 2019 for a transfer fee of four million pounds .
