Ahmed Hegazy ( Arabic أحمد حجازي, DMG Aḥmad Ḥiǧāzī ; Born January 25, 1991 in Ismailia ) is an Egyptian soccer player .

Career

society

Hegazy moved from youth to Ismaily first team in 2009. He played in his home country for three years before moving to Fiorentina in Italy in the summer of 2012. He made his Serie A debut on November 18, 2012 in a 4-1 win over Atalanta Bergamo . He came on as a substitute for Facundo Roncaglia in the 76th minute . After a loan in January 2015 to Serie B at AC Perugia, he left Florence completely in the summer of 2015.

For the new season, Hegazy moved to his home country. From 2015 to 2017 he made 40 league games without scoring. He then moved to the Premier League at West Bromwich Albion , where he played all 38 games over 90 minutes in the first season. He made his debut on matchday one against AFC Bournemouth , where he scored the winning goal to make it 1-0. However, at the end of the season he was relegated to the EFL Championship . But Hegazy stayed with West Brom and also remained a regular player.

National team

Hegazy took part in the 2009 U-20 World Cup with Egypt in their own country. He made his debut for the senior national team on September 3, 2009. In the 2-1 defeat by Sierra Leone , Hegazy was in the starting line-up. He was part of the Egyptian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in which Egypt was the last in Group A to be eliminated in the group stage after losing to Russia , Uruguay and Saudi Arabia . He completed all three games.
