Career

societies

Bournemouth AFC

Danny Ings, who came from his own youth academy, made his league debut for English third division AFC Bournemouth on December 28, 2010 . He scored his first league goal on February 1, 2011 in a 3-2 home win over Swindon Town . In the second half of the Football League One 2010/11 Ings scored seven goals and thus contributed a significant part to the surprising play-off entry of the promoted team. In the semi-finals, the team failed on penalties at third in the table Huddersfield Town . Ings had achieved the interim 3-2 lead for his team in extra time in the second leg.

Burnley FC

On August 15, 2011, the 19-year-old attacker moved to the second division club Burnley FC and signed a four-year contract. At his new club he met coach Eddie Howe , who had left Bournemouth AFC on January 16, 2011 to take over Burnley. Only a few days after his move, Ings suffered a serious knee injury and only played his first league game for Burnley FC on February 14, 2012 due to an injury. In total, he scored three goals in fifteen league games in the Football League Championship 2011/12 . At the beginning of the new season, Danny Ings suffered another serious knee injury (this time the other) and was faced with a month-long absence. This time, however, the healing went faster and Ings was playing his first league game after just over two months. As in the previous year, he scored three goals by the end of the 2012/13 season . In the first half of the Football League Championship 2013/14 Ings increased his accuracy significantly and has already scored thirteen league goals.

Liverpool FC

Ings moved to Liverpool for the 2015/2016 season . There he was used in six league games and scored two goals. In the first training session under the new trainer Jürgen Klopp on October 15, 2015, he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament . In May 2016, on the 38th and final day of the season, he celebrated his comeback. Ings also did not appear in the league in the 2016/17 season due to injury. His only season appearances were 2 appearances in the League Cup in September and October 2016. In the 2017/18 season he was behind the storm trio Sadio Mané , Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah 8 times (including one in the starting XI) in the Premier League and scored a goal. Ings also played 13 times (5 goals) in the U23 to gain match practice after his injuries.

Southampton FC

For the 2018/19 season Ings initially moved to league rivals FC Southampton for a year on loan . In the team threatened with relegation, he appeared 24 times (23 times from the start) in the Premier League and scored 7 goals. After relegation, Southampton FC finally acquired the transfer rights to Ings for the 2019/20 season , who signed a new contract until the end of June 2022. In his second season, Ings finally found his way back to old strength. Until the season interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic after the 29th matchday in March, he scored 15 goals in 29 league games.

English national team

On October 3, 2013 Danny Ings was appointed by coach Gareth Southgate for the first time in the squad of the England U-21 national team. A week later he made his debut for the national team in a 4-0 away win in San Marino when he came on for Raheem Sterling in the 65th minute . On November 19, 2013, he scored two goals in his second international match in a 9-0 home win over San Marino.
