Moussa Djenepo (born June 15, 1998 in Bamako ) is a Malian football player . The striker has been playing for Southampton FC since summer 2019 .
Career
society
Djenepo moved from Yeelen Olympique from Mali to Belgium to Standard Liège on January 31, 2017 . The transfer was initially on loan. On May 30, 2017, Liège activated the purchase option for € 50,000 and made Djenepo a permanent member of the team. Djenepo made his debut for Standard Liège in a 4-0 loss to Club Brugge on August 27, 2017. He scored his first goal on March 11, 2018 against KV Ostend .
On March 17, 2018, he won the Belgian Cup final with Liège 1-0 in extra time against KAA Gent and was the 2018 Belgian Cup winner.
For the 2019/20 season he moved to the English club Southampton FC . The current contract with Standard was terminated against payment of a transfer fee. He made his Premier League debut on August 17, 2019 in a 2-1 defeat by Liverpool .
National team
He represented Mali's U-20 national team at the 2017 U-20 African Championship . Djenepo received his first invitation for the Malian national football team in October 2017 . He made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Ivory Coast on October 6, 2017 in a qualifier for the 2018 World Cup . He scored his first goal on March 23, 2019 in a 3-0 win over South Sudan .
