James Michael Edward Ward-Prowse (born November 1, 1994 in Portsmouth ) is an English football player . He plays as a midfielder since 2003 in the youth teams of Premier League clubs frequently Southampton FC . Since 2011 he has been in the squad of the first team.

Club career

At the age of eight, James Ward-Prowse entered Southampton FC's youth academy . In October 2011, at the age of 16, he played his first game in the first team in the League Cup against Crystal Palace . After promotion to the Premier League in May 2012, he and Luke Shaw , Jack Stephens and Calum Chambers were offered professional contracts. After he was assigned the number 16, he made his debut on the first day of the 2012/13 season in the 3-2 defeat by Manchester City in the Premier League.

International career

Ward-Prowse has played for England's U-17 , U-19 and U-20 . He is currently active for the U-21s. On March 22, 2017, he made his first appearance for the senior national team in the friendly against world champions Germany when he came on in the 83rd minute.
