Sofiane Boufal ( Arabic سفيان بوفال, DMG Sufyān Būfāl ; Born September 17, 1993 in Paris ) is a Moroccan - French football player . The attacking midfielder and Moroccan international is under contract with Southampton FC .

Career

Boufal joined the SCO Angers youth department in 2010 . After the A-youth he first played for the B-team in the fifth-class Championnat de France Amateur 2 . After playing twice for the first team in Ligue 2 in the 2011/12 season , he was promoted to the professional squad for the 2012/13 season . On September 19, 2014 Boufal scored his first competitive goal in the 3-2 away defeat against Stade Laval .

In January 2015 Boufal moved to the first division club OSC Lille . On January 17, 2015, he made his debut in the 1-0 defeat against FC Lorient in Ligue 1. In the 2015/16 season , Boufal developed into a goal-scoring midfielder. On April 16, 2016, he scored 4-2 Away win against Gazélec FC Ajaccio three times.

At the end of August 2016, Boufal moved to the English first division club FC Southampton , with whom he signed a five-year contract, for a club-internal record transfer fee . For the 2018/19 season he was awarded to Celta Vigo in the Primera División for one year .

National team

Boufal was nominated for the first time for the Moroccan national team in March 2016 and played twice against Cape Verde as part of the Africa Cup qualification .
