Jan Kacper Bednarek (born April 12, 1996 in Słupca , Greater Poland Voivodeship ) is a Polish football player . He is under contract with Southampton FC and plays for the Polish national team .
Career

Beginnings in Poland
Jan Bednarek began his football career as a central defender at Lech Posen . At 17, he made his debut in the 2013/14 season for the club's professional team in the first division game against Piast Gliwice . In the following season he won the Polish championship with the team. For the 2015/16 season he was awarded to third division club Górnik Łęczna and then returned to Poznan for one more season.
Move to England
For the 2017/18 Premier League season , Bednarek signed a contract with Southampton FC and held the class with the team in seventeenth place.
National team
Bednarek played for every junior national team in his country from the U16 onwards and was finally appointed to the senior national team after appearing in the U-20 and U-21 selection in 2017. He played three times at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and scored one of only two goals for the Polish team in the group game against Japan . As the bottom of the group, Poland did not get beyond the group stage.
