Rock carvings by Basteröd
The rock carvings of Basteröd ( Swedish Hällristningar i Basteröd ) in the parish of Klövedal on the island of Tjörn are the most extensive rock carvings in southern Bohuslän from the Swedish Bronze Age (1800 to 500 BC) with more than 70 figures including the occurrence of bowls .
The Basteröd petroglyphs are first mentioned in 1882, when they were the only known figures on Tjörn. There is a fleet of 15 ships on the outcrop , including Tjörn's largest ship with a length of 157 cm.
Two of Basteröd's ships are provided with curved lines (schematic luras ) that are interpreted as musical instruments. The figures painted in red in the rock are marked with unusually wide lines.
Nearby is the Pilane burial ground .
