Most Honored Coach: Alex Ferguson (2006)

The Premier League Manager of the Season ( German  Premier League coach of the season ) is an annual award for the best football coach of the season in the English Premier League , which has been awarded since the 1993/94 season . Initially, the award winner was selected by a jury. A shortlist is currently being made available for voting on the Internet and linked to the jury's result. The current title holder is Jürgen Klopp , who became the first German Premier League Manager of the Season .

history

The Scot Alex Ferguson is the record winner of the election with 11 awards between 1994 and his retirement in 2013. He was also the first prize winner. In 1998, the French Arsène Wenger (1997/98, 2001/02, 2003/04) was the first non-British citizen to receive the award. In addition to Ferguson and Wenger, there are just two other coaches, José Mourinho (2004/05, 2005/06, 2014/15) and Pep Guardiola (2017/18, 2018/19), who have won the election more than once.

Usually the coach of the championship team receives the award. But there were exceptions for special achievements that were rewarded with the honor. In the 2000/01 season , George Burley led the new league Ipswich Town in the end in fifth place. In 2009/10 Harry Redknapp managed to bring Tottenham Hotspur back into the top 4 of the English league after twenty years. Newcastle United reached fifth place in the 2011/12 season, their highest ranking in nine years, for which coach Alan Pardew was awarded. Tony Pulis led the promoted Crystal Palace from the end of the table in November 2013 to the end of the season in midfield with eleventh place.
