Noël Le Graët (born December 25, 1941 in Bourbriac , Département Côtes-d'Armor ) is a French entrepreneur and politician. He is President of the French Football Federation FFF .

Entrepreneurs and politicians

Noël Le Graët was born in the neighborhood of the city of Guingamp and grew up in a modest family; his parents worked in agriculture during the Second World War and as an industrial worker from 1945. He was active as a young man as an educator in the tax administration and as a commercial agent before the Breton a small company called Celtigel bought. Over the years, he expanded this into Groupe Le Graët , a diversified family company in the seafood industry , which is now active in various locations in the region. With the Pêcheries d'Armorique in Erquy , it has its own fishing fleet . The best-known brand names in France include Celtigel (frozen meat, fish and vegetable ready meals), Les Délices de la Mer (soups, sauces, spreads) and Agil Chien / Agil Chat (pet food). According to its own information, the group's turnover in 2010 was around 163 million euros.

Le Graët was also involved in politics and joined the Socialist Party (PS). In 1995 he was elected mayor of Guingamp as a candidate for a list association of the left-wing parties with 65 votes ahead ; after his re-election in 2001 - this time clear - he renounced a third candidacy in 2008 in favor of Annie Le Houérou .

Football official

In addition, Noël Le Graët was from 1971 to 1992 chairman of the football club En Avant de Guingamp , which he led from a regional amateur class to the professional league area. From 2002 he held this position again and was last confirmed in 2010. He was instrumental in the fact that the small town with 8,000 inhabitants built a stadium for more than 18,000 spectators, the Stade du Roudourou , from 1990 onwards. The club's greatest success so far, winning the French Cup in 2009 , also fell during his tenure . At the end of that year the monthly Armor Magazine named him “Breton of the Year”.

Le Graët also has a great influence in the French football association FFF : Between 1991 and 2000 he was president of the French professional league association LFP and until mid-2011 he was vice president of the FFF. In this last-mentioned function, he brought about a significant improvement in the financial situation of the FFF by winning new association sponsors, in particular the conclusion of a new equipment contract with Nike . After the resignation of its president Jean-Pierre Escalettes as a result of the fiasco of the French national team at the 2010 World Cup, Noël Le Graët was next to the interim incumbent Fernand Duchaussoy as a promising candidate for his successor. In the regular new presidium election on June 18, 2011, Le Graët prevailed against Duchaussoy and another applicant in the first ballot. He then resigned from the chairmanship of En Avant de Guingamp at the end of June. In December 2012 he was confirmed as FFF President for another four years by a large majority. Le Graët, together with General Secretary Brigitte Henriques, is also the driving force behind the “Féminisation de Football” program, with which the association has been massively promoting women's football since 2011, focusing in particular on training young talent and providing structural support to small clubs.

In March 2017, Le Graët was confirmed in office for a further four years.
