Florian Tristan Mariano Thauvin (born January 26, 1993 in Orléans ) is a French football player . The French international prefers to play in attacking midfield .

Career

societies

After playing for several smaller clubs, Thauvin moved to the youth division of the French professional club Grenoble Foot in 2008 . In 2010 he was finally promoted to the first team, for which he had three short appearances in 2010/11. On March 11, 2011, at the age of 18, he played for the first time in Ligue 2 .

He left the club at the end of the season and was transferred to league rivals SC Bastia . There he was used for the first time in a competitive game on September 23, 2011. After he had only a few playing times in the first half of the season, he was part of the team after the turn of the year. He played a total of 14 competitive games in 2011/12. At the end of the season, the team secured the championship title and rose to Ligue 1. In the 2012/13 season Thauvin became a regular player and scored his first two goals in professional football on October 28, 2012. In January 2013 he signed a four-year contract with Lille OSC . First he played on loan for another six months at his old club from Bastia. There he was able to improve again and scored seven goals in 13 league games after the transfer became known. He was named the best youth player of the season at the Trophées UNFP du football .

In the summer of 2013, Thauvin completed the pre-season preparation at OSC Lille, but was sold to the Champions League participant Olympique Marseille in September without having played a league game. Thauvin's behavior in public was criticized as unprofessional because he had forced the change through a training strike. The midfielder signed a five-year contract in Marseille. A few days later he played his first league game for his new club. On September 14, 2013 he was used in the game against FC Toulouse . On September 18, 2013, he made his Champions League debut against Arsenal . He scored his first competitive goal for Olympique on October 26, 2013. During the season he showed fluctuating performance, but was mostly part of the regular formation and scored eight goals. In August 2015 he moved to Newcastle United in England . On January 31, 2016, it was awarded to Olympique Marseille again until the end of the 2015/16 season. He also played on loan in Marseille for the 2016/17 season , after which he returned permanently to Olympique.

National team

Thauvin has been a French youth international since 2011. He played most of the games for the U-20s, whom he also accompanied to the U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 . In this tournament, in which the French won the final against Uruguay, he was used seven times and scored three goals. It has been used for the U-21s since qualifying for the 2015 European Championship . In the 6-0 win against Armenia on November 14, 2013, he scored three goals.

In March 2017, Thauvin was appointed to the French senior team for the first time. In June 2017 he made his debut in the friendly against Paraguay . With the national team , Thauvin also took part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He came to a mission there and became world champion with his team.

Style of play

Thauvin can play in attacking midfield on the wing and as a ten . His strengths include dribbling, scoring goals and kicking off. As a left-footer, he hits a lot of flanks on the outside lane. Because of his stature, he finds it difficult to hold the ball under pressure.
