Valentin Rongier (born December 7, 1994 in Mâcon ) is a French professional footballer . He plays as a defensive midfielder for Olympique Marseille .

Career

Rongier joined FC Nantes in 2001 as a youth player. After 13 years in various youth selections of the club made his Ligue 1 debut on October 18, 2014 against Stade Reims in a 1-1 draw. He replaced Lucas Déaux after 78 minutes. In June 2014 Valentin signed his first professional contract for three seasons with Nantes. In the 2016/17 season , Rongier achieved his breakthrough and became an integral part of the first team. In 2017 he signed a new contract that runs until 2022.

On September 3, 2019, he finally moved within Ligue 1 to league rivals Olympique Marseille .
