Maxime Baila Lopez (born December 4, 1997 in Marseille ) is a French football player . The central midfielder is under contract with Olympique Marseille and is a U21 international .

Career

Lopez, the son of an Algerian mother and a Spanish father, has been playing for Olympique Marseille since 2010 and has had a professional contract there since summer 2014. He has also been in the first team since the 2016/2017 season. He played for the Marseille youth team in the UEFA Youth League . Lopez made his professional debut in Ligue 1 , the top French division, on August 21, 2016, when he came on for Bouna Sarr in the 60th minute . On November 4, 2016, he was appointed to the French U20 national team for the first time . On December 10, 2016, he scored the first goal of his professional career in the league duel against FCO Dijon .

For his continued good performance in his debut season, he was finally named Ligue 1's best December player of the month . He prevailed against his competitors Mathieu Valbuena and Jimmy Briand with 74% .
