Jimmy Briand (born August 2, 1985 in Vitry-sur-Seine ) is a French football player who has been under contract with the French first division club Girondins Bordeaux since the 2018/19 season .
Career
societies
Briand comes from the youth department of Stade Rennes . On May 20, 2003, he made his Ligue 1 debut when he came on for Alexander Frei in the 67th minute of the game against Paris Saint-Germain . In the 2002/03 season he won the Coupe Gambardella with the Rennes youth team . Since the 2003/04 season, the attacker has been part of the professional squad of Stade Rennes. Briand only made the breakthrough in the 2005/06 season. He came to 29 league games and scored three goals. The team ended up in seventh place. In the following years, Briand was injured several times, which repeatedly threw him back. Due to a serious injury, the striker missed the end of the 2008/09 season and the start of the following season. His contract with Rennes ran until 2010. After he had not renewed the contract, Briand went to league rivals Olympique Lyon and signed a contract with a term of four years, which expired on July 31, 2014.
On August 22, 2014, Briand moved to the Bundesliga for Hannover 96 . He received a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on November 7, 2014 in the 44th minute of the game in a 2-0 away win at Hertha BSC . For the 2015/16 season , the French first division club EA Guingamp signed him .
National team
Briand already played in the French U-21 national team. In May 2007 he was appointed to the French A-squad for the first time for the games , but only made his three-minute debut against Romania in October 2008 . In May 2010 Briand was appointed by national coach Raymond Domenech in the preliminary squad for the 2010 World Cup . Shortly afterwards, on May 17th, he deleted the striker from his squad again.
